Writing my paper on Neoliberalism is hard to do with my roommate sitting nearby and playing Oblivion. She's so silly when she plays games. I don't think I've seen anyone have this much fun pretending and messing around in a game in a long while.

I need to get this paper written, though. It's my final that's due tomorrow by 12:30 pm. All I need is a 75 on it to make an A, so at least I don't have to put that much effort in it.

I don't think it holds a candle to my roommate, trust me, oh god. She spent forever making her character "table dance," "pole dance," and get "drunk" in her character's mansion with sound effects. Just because.

WRITE YOUR FACE. Neoliberalism is a sensitive topic that requires oodles of thought and effort okay. I HAVE TO PREPARE MENTALLY.

I... I kind of want to marry your roommate.

And ahaha... you can buy mansions in Oblivion or does that just come as a starter thing?

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
She's also pretty awesome when she is riding her "pony." She likes to pretend to pet it and give it invisible carrots and say how much she loves it while making galloping noises on trips between cities.

You can buy anything from a shack to a mansion, yeah. You start off homeless after escaping from prison.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
I sort of want this game. FOR THE PONY.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. The pony you get as part of a quest is badass. Whenever an enemy is around and you aren't riding it, it runs like a motherfucker toward it to attack. Not to mention it looks kind of evil.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
You would have fun with this game. It's so much fun, omg. I think it's going to be the first game I get all of the achievements in too.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It kind of sounds like a fantasy Fallout to me (reading a review right now) which makes it ace in my book. I love games like that.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's like fantasty Fallout, but with more freedom, imo. Like, if you do things like join the thieves guild you can just mess around, steal crap, and then you have to sell them to a fence instead of a regular merchant, since honest people won't take your stolen goods.

Main quest is easy to ignore and not nearly as exciting as Fallout 3's, which lends more to you goofing off in the game and doing the badass side quest missions. If you play it, DO THE ASSASSIN GUILD. Trust me. It is deliciously fucked up and you will love it.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well since I enjoy anything deliciously fucked up... (Speaking of, you need to read King Rat. It's a play on the Pied Piper of Hamelin and holy shit I love China Mieville.)

Do you get to decide what your character looks like, too? :o

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
ffff, I already have a long list of things to read. 8(

Yeah, it's about the same set-up as Fallout 3, but with less options for things like hair style (I think). Uses slidey bars and all that. There's a lot of races to pick from and you can build your own custom class if you don't like the ones they offer.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, I would totally make a wood elf. XD

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
......That was the race I first made, too.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I made a straight up thief because they gave me too many options so I went "FUCK IT. Stealing shit."

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I would... I don't know. Custom class sounds cool and I do enjoy my magic, so I might just go rogue man.

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
They have a lot of cool spells, so you'd have a lot of options with a magic character.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet!

I'm going to completely segue for a sec: listen!

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
...That was oddly awesome.

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't like it at first, but it sort of grew on me. They played one of their songs before the bands came on at the concert and it was fun to rock out to.

I like this one too.
crankypsychoex: (Coming for you bitch)

Just downloaded that album to give it a listen. Putting Little Secrets on now. |D

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Waaaaaant.

Some other bands you might like:

Band of Skulls (They opened for Metric and the lead guitarist shredded so hard, he went three or four guitars. Two of those one after the other! &hearts)
Owl City
Anya Marina (She did two songs at the concert; liked only one but you might like her?)

[identity profile] stackingthedeck.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Already have Owl City and love them (because he does sound like the Postal Service, ffff). I'll give the other two a listen later. :o

[identity profile] drownedcities.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Band of Skulls sounds better live, but I kind of adore them. :D

[identity profile] shinyget.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'll snag their album for my walking tomorrow. 8)
